Important transportation policies for students and parents:

Students should arrive at the bus stop at least 5 minutes before the bus is scheduled.
Z
Students should wait in a location clear of traffic and away from where the bus stops.
Z
Students must board and depart the bus at locations to which they have been assigned unless a note signed by their parent and building principal for authorization to do otherwise.
Z
Students must not throw or pass objects on, from or into the bus.
Z
Students must observe classroom conduct and obey the driver.
Z
Students should go directly to their assigned seat so the bus can safely continue.
Z
Parents are responsible for their students safety while waiting for the bus to arrive.
Z
Parents of students being transported by a Swanton School bus should expect their child to arrive home anytime after dismissal at their respective school.
Z
Students must remain seated keeping aisles and exits clear.
Z
Students may only carry items on the bus that can be held in their laps.

Welcome to Swanton Local Schools Transportation Department:

Our goal is to provide the safest and most efficient transportation for your students. Swanton Schools transports approximately 750 students and travels over a 1000 miles daily. We currently have 18 buses in our fleet. Each year the State Highway Patrol performs annual inspections and one spot inspections on all the buses.  All of our drivers are very well trained and cautious, but we also need the help from all community members to always be looking for the school bus especially when the lights are flashing. The safety record for school bus transportation far exceeds that of all other modes of travel. Let’s all do our part to keep it that way.
